Quick Tips From Apex: How To Interview For Early Stage Startups
Be prepared with a brief introduction about yourself: Right after the casual hellos, jump right in. Offer a brief intro about yourself without waiting for the cue. Imagine saying, "Hey! So glad we could chat. Want a quick intro about me before we dive in?"
Example intro: I’m Megan, I’m a senior at Princeton studying Evolutionary Biology, and my profesional experience is mostly in startup operations. I founded a healthtech startup as a sophomore, where I raised venture funding from Bling and Soma Capital. I now run a newsletter that helps students find internships at startups. I’m excited to join the [company] team because [reason].
Show, Don’t Just Tell: Keep some of your past work on standby to screenshare. Walking them through what you've done is a great way to showcase your expertise and initiative. Whether it's a design project, code on GitHub, or a marketing campaign - if you have something you can show, be prepared to use it!
Our next batch of internships will come out on Saturday! Stay tuned!
